Casa do Capitão

Casa do Capitão is a cultural centre located in Beato, Lisbon. Requalifying the commander’s house in an old military complex into a complex for artistic activities, complemented by food and drink services. Cultural programming is the starting point for attracting audiences, as well as for defining and affirming the project's identity. Current popular music and dance music are the mainstay of this program that extends to other artistic areas: performing arts, disciplinary intersections, visual arts, image, and words. In addition to its own program, Casa do Capitão is open to different promoters and hosts relevant cultural events in the city. Casa do Capitão brings together, within the same space, a transdisciplinary programme that involves the local communities and an established network of national and international partners in several areas of the cultural field. Not only it intends to be a stage for showcases, but it also aims to be a place for artistic creation, intersection of different artistic areas and encounters between diverse cultural agents.
