First, there's the love of plants - the members of the Labotanique duo are agronomists. Then there's a passion for music, synthesizers and rap. There's also a place, the botanical gardens of Nantes, which is their recording studio and their experimental ground. But above all, they wanted to make plants sing. Utopia? No, plant pop!
Playing with the codes of music and science, Labotanique have released their debut album 'Expressions végétales'. Track after track, the listener travels from one plant to another, each echoing our world today. The polypode, a small urban fern, tells the story of its childhood in the suburbs; the tropical monstera proves that plants can also speak; and the cactus, standing behind its innumerable prickles, confronts our prejudices about sexuality...
