Two kick-off days in Nantes (France) to launch 4-years-project Slash Transition
On 30, 31 August and 1 September 2023, all the Slash Transition partners gathered in Nantes, France for the project kick off meeting. This brief yet intense couple of days were the opportunity to meet face to face after several online meetings to initiate this 4-years project.
On Thursday 31, the consortium of partners started by reviewing some global project management points, including administrative requirements, budget monitoring and communication topics.
After a short break, the group welcomed Bien Urbaines, a consultancy agency specialised in cultural and urban projects. They introduced the history and presentation of the island of Nantes, territory on which Trempo (partner based in Nantes, France) will work on in the project’s framework.
The consortium pursued the day with a tour of the west part of the island of Nantes. It was the opportunity to meet some of the organisations that take part in the local hub formed by Trempo, to visit their premises and to see L’Ecole de Design de Nantes Atlantique, the design school of Nantes that is a member of the consortium and whose mission is to work on the project’s dissemination.
All partners came back at Trempo in the early evening for a buffet that gathered Slash Transition international partners, local stakeholders and Nantes local hub members. Then, in the evening, the group joined the crowd and finished the day in music with Tago Mago, Gala Drop, Al Ghar and DJ Deheb that were programmed in Trempo that night.
On the last morning of this meeting, it was each other’s time to present its territory and local hub first ideas. The other partners discovered with maps and photos the areas of work in Tunis, Lisbon, Tbilisi and Innsbruck local hubs.
Finally, before a goodbye lunch and some administrative bilateral meetings, all organisations worked with Bien Urbaines agency on a prospective exercise on their territory. To what will look like their neighborhoods in 5, 10 years? What would they like to see as changes ? What are the transitions that might start in the future ?
Following this enriching meeting, the work keeps going for each partner. Between September and November 2023. For each experimentation territory, the cooperation partner will organize 5 local hub meetings to gather resources, context and to lay the groundwork for the future artist in residency. Then, it will be the time for the artistic selection!
