We’re proud to present you our five-artist selection

We’re proud to present you our five-artist selection, chosen by our jury of music professionals. They will attend both our workshops in Nantes (November 2019) and Athens (February 2020), meet new people, play music and learn all sort of stuff. Now take some time to discover Alice Hubble (UK), J‑Silk (FR), Marta Cascales Alimbau (ES), Martin Baltser (DK) and Simone Tang (DK).

Alice Hubble (UK)

Alice Hubble is the project of Alice Hubley and the product of one lady locked at home with her vast collection of synthesisers. The album ‘Polarlichter’ was born out of a desire to work on a project without constraints, to move away from the traditional song writing process and to experiment with the form. Inspired by the 70’s recordings by Tangerine Dream, Ashra and even Mike Oldfield, Alice wanted to take a more delicate approach; a distinctly feminine take on often pompous 70’s progressive synth sound.

J‑Silk (J‑Silk, FR)

J‑Silk, a Bordeaux-London ‘Future Soul’ trio, released their second EP on March 30th 2018. They are part of the current music scene that fuses hip-hop, pop and electro; think of The Internet, Anderson Paak, Little Dragon, James Blake and the like. J‑Silk is a Neo-Soul collage of vintage Adidas jackets, analogue synthesizers, hip-hop beats and an exceptional, sensual voice.

Marta Cascales Alimbau (ES)

Marta Cascales Alimbau is a pianist and composer from Barcelona, with a Classical Music background but a modern approach. Her music blends elements of legendary composers such as Bach & Debussy while also brings influences of modern classical artists like Ólafur Arnalds and Max Richter. Marta understands music as a way of communication and expression. She tells stories through the piano and takes you to different places, emotions and sensations. Her debut album Light-House (Piano & Coffee Records, 2017), led her to keep recording and releasing her music, now signed with the NYC label Sonder House. She is currently working on her second album titled Anoche, to be released by the end of 2019.

Martin Baltser (DK)

Martin Baltser is an electro-folk artist based in Aarhus, Denmark. His first album ’The Wasteland Incident’ was released in September 2018. The first single ‘Call Me Wild’ got worldwide attention and have reached 300.000 clicks on Spotify. Since that the music has been picked by MTV Asia, German radio like NDR2, international playlists, and big music magazines like Akustik Gitarre and Tonspion. In 2018 the world champion Ran Ravnik danced to a song from the album in Los Angeles. Since 2017 the band has played many shows, among others at SPOT Festival (DK), Norden Festival (DE).

Simone Tang (DK)

In her relatively short career as a songwriter, Simone Tang has already sold several compositions for film scores, for both domestic and foreign movies. While most Danes might remember her for her role in the danish feature film “Aching Hearts” by Nils Malmros’, for Simone Tang it is music that has been the focus for the past several years. By the time she was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music as a songwriter back in 2015, she had already played as a supporting act for artists such as MiC LOWRY, Erik Hassle, Loyle Carner and Sara Hartmann.

Last year, Simone was announced as an artist at Danish festivals Smukfest and SPOT, as well as being chosen as the Danish up-and-coming talent to play at renowned showcase festival The Great Escape in England. Simone Tang released her first single “Shame” in april, written and produced by herself, which currently has streamed over 196.000 times. Simone releases her 2n’d single “Smiling” in september 2019.
