To end on a high note this first year of Slash Transition project, we are delighted to announce the first 5 selected mentors that will be part of Slash Transition first round. They will be in training in Nantes, France in March 2024 and they will support an artist in residency during Summer / Autumn 2024 in their city.
Thomas Cochini (France)
Composer and keyboardist, Thomas navigates between rap, jazz, field recording and electronic music. A former piano student at the Rueil-Malmaison conservatory and then jazz student, he has been exploring computer-assisted music for more than 15 years. Fascinated by the evocative power of real sounds, he strives to perfect this approach from in situ recording to musical production in his workshops.
It was during his agricultural engineering studies that he founded Labotanique with Ronan Moinet that questions our relationship with the environment throughout its creations. For the production of various phonographic content: sound walks, podcasts, music on screen, installations Thomas also co-founded the company bruit vert.

Ketevan Davitashvili (Georgia)
Ketevan Davitashvili is a performer and sound artist from Tbilisi. She has studied Music Technology at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and the Sibelius Academy and currently working as an archivist at the TSC, digitising unique recordings of Georgian folk songs from magnetic tapes. She has built a DIY analog fm synthesiser 2 years ago researching the limitations in creative decisions and unpredictability of the machines. She made a performance with her synthesiser in a baby doll embodying the social pressure of becoming a mother. Her interests are performance, being in the flow state, improvisation, sound design: field recordings and synthesis, microelectronics.

Chris Koubek (Austria)
Chris Koubek is working in the field of culture with a focus on contemporary music and art, pop-culture and collective forms of organization since 1991. Starting as a musician in several bands and projects he began hosting and curating interdisciplinary events and festivals in 1998. He founded p.m.k, a cultural center with 30 associated initiatives and the Heart of Noise Festival in 2011. Koubek is a member of the advisory board for music of the province of Tyrol, received the Outstanding Artist Award of the Republic of Austria is co-curator of the Alles Gute Festival and takes care of the Workstation, a space with six rehearsal rooms for musicians and bands.

Mafalda Corrêa Nunes (Portugal)
Mafalda Corrêa Nunes is a PhD fellow at the University of Lisbon – Institute for Social Sciences (ICS-ULisboa). She holds a MA degree in Art Administration and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths College – University of London and a specialisation degree in Global Urban Studies from the University of Copenhagen. Since 2011, she has been working at the intersection of Arts and Urbanism in project management, research and production. Over the last few years, she has been involved in different action-research projects related to participatory urban regeneration processes and culture-led urban development. Her PhD research draws on her experience working for the Horizon 2020 project “ROCK: Regeneration and Optimization of Cultural Heritage in Creative and Knowledge Cities” – a EU-funded project which was implemented between 2017 and 2020 in the Marvila and Beato neighbourhoods in Lisbon.

Benjemy (Tunisia)
Author and composer, Benjemy was born in 1989 in Tunis. Voted best Dj in Tunisia by People’s Beats magazine in 2017 and 2018, his style handles percussive and melodious electronic music, mixing traditional instruments and Tunisian Sufis (Bendir, Mezwed, etc.) with an incisive and uncompromising electronic sound. Benjemy is also a doctoral student in language and literature specializing in Antonin Artaud; French theater theorist, writer and actor. After a first album, “Incipit”, produced in 2020, Benjemy embarked on a performative experience, setting up lives combining music and literature. His first show was titled “En Chair et en sons” and it was produced in La Rochelle, France, between the Intermondes center and La Sirène.
