SLASH 2: The received applications

We received a total of 172 applic­a­tions… that is to say, more than twice the num­ber of applic­a­tions received for sea­son 1! Due to the loc­a­tion of the Slash team in Trempo, in Nantes (France), we received a sig­ni­fic­ant num­ber of French applic­a­tions. How­ever, 23 dif­fer­ent nation­al­it­ies were rep­res­en­ted from all over Europe.

Among the can­did­ates, a major­ity were men. Nev­er­the­less, we received 57 women applic­a­tions, 2 applic­a­tions in which people con­sidered them­selves as non bin­ary, 1 applic­a­tion in which the per­son defined itself as “oth­er” and 4 applic­a­tions in which people would rather not spe­cify. Thus, we can say that regard­ing the medi­um aver­age of 16% of registered sing­er-song­writer women, we are glad to be quite above with almost ⅓ of women applications.

Anoth­er inter­est­ing data is the applic­ant age. An artist needs accom­pa­ny­ing at every moment of its career, and although age was not a cri­ter­ia in the selec­tion pro­cess, it is quite pleas­ing to see the diversity of age groups among the applications.

As you can guess, the applic­a­tions we received were indeed quite diverse: vari­ous moments of career, dif­fer­ent eco­sys­tems between coun­tries and numer­ous music­al types were represented.

Finally, some inter­est­ing data we col­lec­ted are the expect­a­tions and the needs of the applic­ants while apply­ing to the pro­gram. Here is a sum­mary of the most quoted ones.
