Can you tell us a bit about “Spain is Music” (http://spainismusic.com/) please?
Spain is Music is a music travel agency that organises tailor-made trips for those who want to get to know Spain, with music as a claim, and from there learn about other aspects of the Spanish culture such as its gastronomy, history, natural landscapes and cultural heritage.
What is your mission and vision as the director?
I am a music lover and I attend dozens of concerts and festivals every year. My feeling when I enjoy one of these concerts is that for a few hours a bubble of happiness is created for the hundreds or thousands of attendees that are there. This is pure magic for me. Something as intangible as music is so powerful as to make a place the basis of a great experience. There came a time when I wondered why not turn that concert or festival into the center of something else. Something that starts before the musical event, something that connects you to the place where the concert takes place. Why not take advantage of the fact that we are there to taste the cuisine of the place, get to know its history, meet local people, interact with the musicians. All this can become a tourist and emotional experience that can be structured, directed and sold to people with cultural curiosity.
What is your take on the place of music in a tourism strategy?
In Spain is Music we know Spain very well. We are constantly looking for the music that excites us and that is created here. We believe that this music should be known all over the world. We connect this music with other characteristics of the place where it is produced to design a global experience. This helps us enjoy much more the music, the people who participate in the experience, the food, the landscape, the history.
We are connectors of moments where things happen that excite us, where we learn, we meet people like us, and above all, we enjoy music.
Thank you so much for the interview! See you in Nantes on the 22. Nov.
